First of all, let's define "spectacular". In this case I am choosing the adjective form which is "amazing or worthy of special notice". Since I love to dance, I laughingly imagine myself on the dance floor with these ladies, although I most certainly would be outfitted differently! Wow, look at those squats they are doing.
Inspiration!!! I want to be spectacular too, so I stop writing for a moment and raise my desk so that I could multitask my blogging while working out on my Simply Fit Balance Board. Now I am twisting, balancing, rocking and rolling, squatting and engaging my core. I love this board!!
Here is another person who is proving that age is only a number!
Oksana Chusovitina is now competing in her seventh Olympics in Rio. She is 41 years old and has a son who is 17 years old......the same age as many of the girls she is competing against. Her history making participation places her as the oldest woman to ever appear at the Olympic Games. That alone is spectacular, but what resonates most with me is her response to being asked how she rated her performance, and she simply said "I'm alive, I'm well and that means everything's okay."
And, just as I was writing this blog, my husband Stewie called me to tell me he had just met a lovely gentleman who we had met during our volunteer days for local charities.
Stewie had just pulled up to our favorite Sarasota wine store, The Wine to Buy, and as he parked his car he noticed an elderly man struggling to get out of his car (yes, he was the driver) and getting his walker in place. He turned as Stewie approached with an offer to help him and Stewie recognized him immediately. Here is how their conversation started:
Stew: Sam, how are you?
Sam: Doing great....just turned 97 years old and happy to be alive!
Stew: Are you going in to buy some wine?
Sam: What do you think I am doing....buying a quart of milk?
Mark Twain once said "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." And then there are the words my adorable husband often says, "I will never grow old because I always act immature!"
My takeaway thoughts on this topic are simply to be spectacular in my own mind and let those thoughts translate into actions. After all, age is really just a number!
